Currently doing some volunteer work at the Qld maritime museum. They have the Diamantina original hull designation K377 hoisted on the flag deck. I was under the impression that this should be the ships international call sign as in say VKCU for the old Stalwart. Can someone please clarify and if I am correct let me know what Diamantina's call sign was. (Former POETC)

Dave Sutherland Send E-mail Monday, 8 February 2016 02:22
Diamantina's International Call Sign is VMFB. For further information, go along the menu bar to V/S Store, click to reveal drop down menu > Ships Callsigns. The most excellent resource is the work of Sandy McNab, who has spend years pulling it all together. (Ex- CPOSY)

Dave Sutherland Send E-mail Monday, 8 February 2016 03:06
Further to the above. A ship’s International call sign is generally flown when leaving or entering harbour. Given that the ‘Tina is a static display (in dry dock), I suggest what is flown would be determined locally. Any other reader may wish to add their comments

Haven't been on this site in donkeys years. Just wanted to say hi and see if there was anyone on that I knew from back in the late 60's early 70's. Then in the early to mid 80's. I was a SWRROT back then. Served in Singapore apr 71- feb 72.

Who watched the Hird interview? Still so many questions to be asked and answered. Who okayed the injections?, who shredded the records?, why the off-site injections if he thought it was ok. Seemed to me that Hird is playing the victim card, (the AFL set him up) and trying to re-write history. The interviewer was pretty easy on him too, softly, softly.

hey Doug...Who really cares ???

Doug Marsh Send E-mail Wednesday, 20 January 2016 22:14
I reckon Chicken Man, (the greatest crime fighter the world has known would) and the half million footie fans who think Hird, Dank, Charters, Alavi, Robson, etc have shamed the AFL and blotted the Bombers such that they will not live it down.

Hi, I'm a 'birdie' interloper although not here without reason. Firstly, the compliments of the season to you all.
Secondly, my brother in law William James Allen ON R93001 joined as a Leeuwin JR on 09JUL60 and rose to the dizzy heights of LRO before transferring to the Linguist branch in JAN66. I believe Bill paid off in FEB70 after which he earned a place at Latrobe University, Melbourne on a scholarship and completed a law degree which he practiced in the East and then the West where he was also a dab hand at training and driving Pacers which he also owned one of. Bill now lives in country Victoria. Bill would visit his sister and I at Nowra where he & I would play chess, with a crock of Port and cigars until after the milkman came during the morning watch.
The third reason for this 'short' note is to welcome any and all to my facebook site which has a membership of 2000+ and including some ex RO/WRRO's.
Fair winds and following seas, Aye. Dutchy.
PS: Patience lads, had to do this again after I timed out. I'm not as fit as I was having had Parkinson's Disease now in the 20th year. You did it to me again!

Sad to read of the passing of CRS Billy Lowe.HE joined the Quadrant from Queenborough in Far East in 1956 and from day one he insisted ,tidiness.neatness and that it was not inhuman to have a sense of humour .Quadrant achieved a lot in 1956..there is no doubt that these results came about by a thoughtful and inspiring leadership by Bill... no gf on s/s....wonderful guy ,,,

Condolences to Doug Marsh and Barry Lehmann but once again your beloved Dockers have gone "Down down down" Think they might have a bit of rebuilding to do before they can surface again.

This might seem like a bit of a stretch but I was hoping someone could help me please. I am looking for a contact for ex wran ROT Brenda Edwards, from the class of 1984. I need to let her know I sent her flowers at Cerberus in 1984 for Valentines Day. They were sent by a secret admirer (Me). I was going to tell her eventually but didn't get around to it, and I used to get wobbley at the knees whenever I talked to her, ha. She could ne anywhere now and married etc, but I would like to let her know as it is 31 years later but it will put my mind at ease. I just found a picture of her in 1984 recruit school class, I even recognise their names, Suzi Heal, Diane Donko. Cool.
Thanks for any help you can offer.
